The PacificSun LED printed circuit board above might seem innocuous enough but the excitement lies in the fact that those LEDs are Cree’s latest and greatest. PacificSun’s new panel will be using the highest performing XP-G whites at 130 lumens per watt and XP-E Royal Blue LEDs rated at 500 mA, the most powerful XP-E currently available and a very rare bin of the Royal Blue LED. This new panel from pacificSun will have the option of being equipped with optics of your choosing, either in 45 or 60 degree beam. The Cree powered LED panel from PacificSun will possibly show up in the Black Python Master/slave and BTEX series and it will likely become the only LED panel used in the top-shelf Phobos and Deimos light fixtures when they begin shipping. We’re not sure what to be more excited about: the industry leading LEDs, the high powered royal blues or the option to add optics for use on some deeper reef tanks. There is a slight chance we’ll see an XP-G and Royal Blue equipped Phobos light at ReefStock’s LED tour-de-force but that is penchant on PacificSun getting a fixture out to us in time for the mid-March event.
PacificSun lights slated to get the Cree XP-G and XP-E royal blue LED makeover
