Hold on to your corallites folk because all that promise of mass market LED from marineland’s Double Bright is about to get a little closer to reality as we sneak a peek at the HO LED prototype at Global Pet Expo in Orlando. Aside from murmurs of a summer timeframe for availability, we only have these images to go on. It appears that in this revision of the Double Bright Marineland has crammed in about twice as many LEDs as the still fresh regular Doublebright. They must have also tweeked the circuitry because being able to see the blue LEDs with the whites is not a feature of the stnadard Double Bright light fixture. Alas, from the reflection of the light pointed downwards it appears that the 24″ HO LED is currently sporting 18 LEDs, only three of which are blue. Let’s hope this is the freshwater version and the HO LED for reef comes with a better balance of blue LEDs that our corals and hearts desire. Follow the break for a couple more snaps of the HO LED’s hull.
