After what seemed like almost a death-knell period of silence, we have just come to learn that the Midwest Frag Fest is alive and well and slated for late October again at the Clocktower Inn in Rockford. Illinois. The MFF holds a special place in our salt-crusted reefing heart because it is one of the shows which for us defines the modern regional aquarium conference genre. Like a natural convergence towards a new, modern aqaurium event format, right about the time that MFF broke the mold, so too did the Mahattan Reefs, New Jersey and Reefapalooza events. In any case, we are glad to learn that the Midwest Frag Fest is alive and well under the helm of founder and benevolent-dictator-for-life Rob Topping (our title, not his). Rob is entertaining the idea of joining the short list of shows to franchise the ReefScape competition and we hear he is working on a great lineup of speakers. Other than some great costume parties and a Reef Builders lounge, details are short on the upcoming MFF but we’ll be sure to let you know when the new website is back up and running.
