The Red Dragon 4 water pump from Royal-Exclusiv is perhaps the highest performance water pump ever created by an aquarium company. Granted, this device is currently as useful as a nuclear warhead waiting for the cold war to come to blows but it’s nice to know that should you ever win the lottery and build the 50,000 gallon reef tank of your dreams we’d all likely be looking at the Red Dragon IV. As with other Red Dragon water pumps the series comes in a few sizes with the top end model capable of 15 meters/49 feet of head pressure and a maximum flowrate of 40,000 liters per hour (10,500gph).The RDIV is built around a brushless DC motor which is absolutely controllable with a laptop for flowrate, pressure, power consumption and on and on. We didnt even ask about pricing or availability yet since these are one-offs and if you’re in the market for such a super car water pumping device, chances are you’ll just call up Klaus and fly him in to install the thing. What’s most exciting about the RD4 is not the pump itself, but the features that were developed for it which may one day trickle down to more consumer level brushless DC motor aquarium water pumps.
