The Tricolor tang we shared with you a couple of weeks back was cooperative for both the still and video cameras. It took a while for this large captive specimen living at Southwest Marines to relax with our camera in his face but once he did, we found his slow graceful movements to be be very peaceful.
We’ve seen more than a couple aberrant surgeonfish from the Zebrasoma genus but this is the first really nicely patterned and long-term captive fish we’ve encountered. The contrast of white, yellow and darker colors is quite dramatic and you’ll have to take our word that this tricolor tang’s eye was much redder than the camera was able to capture.
And in case this fish alone isn’t enough to tempt you into watching the full video, there’s a little ballet of fin flaring between the tricolor scopas and his equally splendid gem tang tankmate.
