The Reef Scientific ozone generator from Midland Reefs is unique in that it is the only aquarium ozonizer we’ve come across which uses the cold plate discharge technology. Other than using a ceramic disc which is periodically cleaned and replaced, we don’t know much about this method of ozone generation other than it is much less affected by humidity so it can operate efficiently without an air dryer. The Reef Scientific cold ceramic plate ozonizer features indicator lights for when ozone is being produced and the adjustment screw allows for selection of the Ozone output from 0-100mg of ozone per hour. Furthermore, the Reef Scientific ozone generator includes a built-in 365 day timer so that the user can finely control when and how much ozone is added to the aquarium on a daily basis and the timer buttons are protected by a large sliding splash guard. This UK built ozonizer costs £149 retail in Great Britain and we hope it could cost $250 or so if an American distributor decides to import it into the U.S. Follow the break for a full hands on of this interesting ozone generator from Midland Reefs.
