Lookout Dominoes and Black Photons because there’s a new clownfish cross in town and it’s called the Black Ice Semi Snowflake. Apparently ORA tried to rub a black ocellaris clownfish together with a snowflake clownfish, hoping to get a black snowflake clownfish instead they ended up with this strain that has a name twice as long. In all seriousness the ‘Black Ice’ is an interesting morph which ended up developing a very strong black outline to it’s semi snowflake style bars, greatly accentuating the contrast between the white and orange body colors. Another feature of the Black Ice Semi Picasso is a Zig-Zag pattern in the middle of the body. We applaude ORA for the continuous experimental process but perhaps it’s time to look outside the captive strain gene pool. The recent wave of interesting wild percula clownfish morphs that Blue Zoo imported from the Solomon Islands were carrying unique traits that are begging to be fixed. The ‘pearl-eye/headlight’ morphs and the spotted morph could really bring a lot of new patterns to the current captive bred clownfish mix.
Black Ice Semi Snowflake Clownfish is ORA’s freak of the week
