The Tunze Nano Stream 6045 Flow Control is the latest iteration of Tunze’s strongest of the smallest. The Nano Stream 6045 has a maximum flowrate just shy of 1200 gallons per hour and as such, was never really suitable for the truly nano tanks. With the mechanically adjustable nozzle that will be shipping with all new 6045s you’ll be able to dial down to as little as 400 gallons per hour at the minimum setting. The new flow control feature of the 6045 is a discreet addition which will help new users better dial in their desired flow speed, however we hold some reservations about long termuse in reef aquarium water. Precipitations and biofouling will surely have an effect on the ability of the nozzle to slide up and down inside the strainer. Owners of the new Nano Stream 6045 Flow Control will have to take extra care of their pumps if they are attached to the adjustable nozzle, might we suggest the Tunze cleaning set for keeping the nozzle, strainer and impeller free from obstructions and in peak operating condition.
