The Fluval C series power filter has so many filtration stages that it’ll make you think twice about your sump or wet-dry. Ok, we wouldn’t go that far with the C series power filter but even though Hagen has usually put it’s weight behind canister filter products, Hagen still thinks it has some room to innovate in the power filter space. In addition to the usual mechanical, biological and chemical filtration section, the Fluval C series also boasts “Exclusive biological trickle chamber . . . for de-nitrification”. Last we heard de-nitrification was an anaerobic process that is counter to using a trickle filter but hey, it’s the 2010’s and bacteria are allowed to rebel if they want to. What is noteworthy about the Fluval C series is the quick change media system that allows for certain cartridges to be removed without getting all up in it much like the Fluval G has accessible media containers. We didn’t see or pick up any literature on the C-series so we are unsure on how many sizes exist of the Fluval C series and when these will be coming to market.
