Looks like the new version of the Reef Octopus SX line of protein skimmers will be released in September. E-tailer Salty Supply is teasing the skimmer fanatics with the news that they are going to carry the skimmers with a pre-order coming later this month. The big news on these skimmers is the use of the new, higher efficiency Sicce PSK-600 and Sicce PSK-1000 model pumps.
Sicce pumps are bubbling beasts when they are working right but with heavy modifications and initial problems getting the previous Sicce pumps like the PSK-2500 to function right initially, it was hard to get a skimmer dialed in quickly. We’re hoping the new line of Sicce pumps solves those problems giving you extreme bubble production right off the bat. Beyond the new Sicce pumps we’re not sure if there are other design changes implemented on the new line.
Pricing should be right around the same as previous models unless other drastic changes and improvements are made to the design beyond the new pumps.
