The Vitrea desktop nano aquarium is a sexy box of reefing that Vitrea USA showed off for the first time in the US at last week’s MACNA. The Vitrea nano comes as a standard glass cube or another version has a little bit of a built-in filter in the back which would be perfect for the equally svelte Mame nano skimmer III. Anyone can make a very nice glass cube reef tank but what really caught our attention about the Vitrea nano reef is that sweet wraparound LED light fixture that elegantly perches over the tank area. The LED fixture comes in either silver or cherry red and while one end rests under the aquarium to keep it in place, the other end has a little overhanging blind that keeps these lens and reflector-free LED strips from blinding the viewer.
The overarching canopy of the Vitrea nano reef comes with one LED strip although up to two can be installed with their heatsinks sticking up through the aluminum so they can adequately vent off heat. Of course all of this Italian polish will come at a premium with the fully decked out and filtered model retailing in the $800 neighborhood and the base model with a single strip going for $600. At MACNA Vitrea was offering up super deals on the desktop nano to retailers who were at the show so we’ll see if they hoard the show pricing for their own displays or if anyone bought enough of these to pass along the deal to end users. We’ll keep an eye out for Vitrea Nanos in the wilds of the US but in the meantime, you can get your eye candy fix by following the break.
