The Zoo Med Aqua Cool was recently released and was one of the newer products shown off at MACNA. While this little unit won’t push huge numbers it is a nice little low-profile unit that would be perfect for smaller tanks. The Aqua Cool sticks to the aquarium on the outside with a suction cup and blows the air over the surface of the water through and adjustable duckbill-type vent. Running off a low voltage, 12VDC power supply the main body (about 3 x 6 in.) of the unit is all external so even if the suction cup loses grip, the weight of the unit would keep it out of the tank. We can definitely see this as a handy tool for open top pico and nano tanks in the summer.
The final pricing for the Aqua Cool wasn’t set at the show but we expect it to be priced around $40 or less when its finally released in the next few weeks. Not the best timing with the summer winding down and temperatures starting to fall but may be something you keep your eye out for and have on hand for the next heatwave.
