A few weeks ago we threw down the gauntlet, urging MACNA and the reefing community to do more to support the next generation of reefers. Well the Iowa MACNA planning committee was listening and they picked up the gauntlet, kicked it around, played a game of horse with it and then came to an awesome, very altruistic decision: MACNA 2011 will be free to students up to the age of seventeen years old.
You hear that, young reefer frags? That boring piece of plastic you call a School ID, that you normally just use to check out books from the library or to buy lunch with, will be now be good for walking the MACNA 2011 trade show floor or for attending the great lineup of speakers that MACNA attracts. With the entrance fee out of the way, now the young reefers still have 11 months to mow lawns or babysit to save up enough monies for the travel, lodging and of course for the mountain of raffle prizes. We suspect that MACNA 2011 will have some more attractions for the young reefers but we’ll cross that reef channel when we get to it. Way to go GIRS and the MACNA planning committee!
