There’s no doubt that the iGlo LED Set is being targeted at an audience other than the reef aquarium crowd, but one look at what this real time, wifi-controlled LED strip can do and our reef-obsessed gears started turning. Imagine your primary lights being off and having the iGlo LED Set simulating an early morning sunrise, an afternoon thunderstorm or a deep blue twilight period after hours. Granted this iPhone controllable RGB LED striplight is not necessary to keep corals or fish alive and thriving but wouldn’t it be fun to see what a future of color controllable LED reef lights might one day look like?
It’s only a matter of time before someone puts this $300 toy over an aquarium, regardless of it’s resistance to moisture of reef aquarium conditions, and we can only hope that they share more of the sunrise and twilight lighting simulations than inducing techno seizures on their hapless reef animals. The fact that this lighting toy can be controlled via an iPhone just gives it just an added bonus and if there’s a way to make an internet connected aquarium controller coomunicate with the iGlo LED Set, it will be on like Red Dawn! A few more demo videos of this multicolor RGB LED strip can be seen on the iGlo LED Set website.
