MaxSpect is rolling out a line of LED dive lights which may not be immediately applicable to aquarium purposes, but if nothing else it does show that MaxSpect is serious about making LED lighting products. We are particularly interested in the yf08, the smallest of the Max S dive flashlights which will retail for $189. We still have and use our old NightSea LED flashlight with it’s quaint regular blue LEDs and fluorescence enhancing glasses, but with the performance of blue LEDs where they are these days, the small Max S YF08 Dive light could easily fill that role.
Having a small water proof flashlight to highlight coral colors and their potential would be an awesome accessory for both stores and traveling coral vendors. It could also be a great toy for people looking around their tanks, reef clubs could buy one and loan it out, and it may even be able to spot the early warning signs of coral stress through decreases or increases in fluorescence. The standard white YF08 dive light will be shipping in December with white LEDs but we hope MaxSpect will consider the demand for a high quality blue LED flashlight for poking at corals. More pics of the entire Max S Dive Flashlight range after the break.
