LGMAquari is a new aquarium manufacturer in Italy which has recently started showing off their brand new hang-on calcium reactor. The LGr701 SP is a tough-built calcium reactor with a desirable upflow design, all schedule 80 parts and a Sicce Synchra 1.5 for silent operation and reliable restarts.
Italian hobbyist blogger Danillo Ronchi is first to the punch with this review unit sent to him from LGMAquari so we don’t yet know what it will cost and other specifications other than those which are in plain sight. For one the use of a perforated bottom tube cannot ensure the same kind of flow distribution that we expect from a perforated plate so using anything but coarse reactor media or coral bones is out of the question.
The LGr701 SP Calcium reactor has a probe port, bubble counter, plenty of union fittings and a top that completely screws off for easy access to the media chamber. Additionally, the LGr701 from LGMAquari is 55cm tall and rated for tanks up to 700 liters, but of course this rating ultimately depends on the mineral demands of the tank. LGMAquari products are only available in Europe for now but if you’re looking for a sexy small Calcium Reactor, the AquaMaxx CR1 is still on on our mind and it is available in the states.
