For over seven years the Chauvet SF-4005 light timer has been one of our favorite options for a reliable, adjustable pump timer. It is with great regret that we’ve learned the SF-4005 has been discontinued from being further produced by Chauvet. If you’re still rocking an old school setup of powerheads or top loading water pumps then the Chauvet is a great way to get an affordable wavemaker intervalometer for your reef. Even the newer Hydor Koralia Evolution and Sicce Voyager pumps are well suited to turning on and off with a timer. Although Chauvet isn’t making any more of the SF-4005 there’s plenty to be had on the interwebs for $30-45 so get em while they last because aquarium hobby versions won’t ever really be less than a hundred bucks.
