The Fishneedit LED reef light is one of the most affordable combinations of multichip and high output LEDs that we’ve seen come to market lately. The $549 list price of the Fishneedit LED makes it comparable to the Blue Moon Aquatics combo LED pendant, except that Fishneedit has this LED “on sale” for $349 which is a screaming deal considering that it has two 20 watt multichip LEDs.
Fishneedit’s LED fixture is a total of 79 watts with two 20 watt, 14K multichip LEDs each with their own convex lens and thirteen 3 watt royal blue LEDs riding their native 120 dgeree primary optic. The 14 x 7 x 4″ fixture is a little bit thick but we can forgive the largess since the Fishneedit LED has active cooling baked right in. AT the moment there is no way to mount the Fishneedit LED to your tank so you’ll have to make due with suspension using a mounting kit.
We suspect that this is not a completely original LED light fixture; probably an OEM unit that was built to specification but for $350 you can’t beat nearly 80 watts of balanced LED light that is backed up by a non-imaginary heatsink that is also actively cooled.
