The Reef Lamp Clamp from BoostLED is a new incandescent base fixture that is designed to hold PAR30 LED spotlights. Small tanks are notoriously hard to light with nice even lighting but BoostLED has an answer to this problem. Their new Reef Lamp Clamp has the perfect mix of flexibility, looks and brawn to get a PAR30 right where you want it and to keep it in place. It’s so flexible that you may think you’ve hired a full time yoga instructor to hold the lamp for you. The Reef Lamp Clamp easily attaches to the tank rim pointed skyward then bends a full 180 degrees to drop the light spread right where it is needed. With all this functionality, you might expect the Reef Lamp Clamp to experience some loss in the aesthetic department, but you would be wrong.
The Reef Lamp Clamp appears to build on the less-is-more concept, and with its sleek black finish, the minimalist fixture easily blends into the background. The Reef Lamp Clamp may be designed with pico tanks in mind, but it also has application for those who wish to illuminate larger tanks with PAR30 LED spotlights. The Reef Lamp Clamp’s hugely overbuilt mounting design can easily fit tank thicknesses up to one inch thick (2.5cm), and with three nylon clamps, there’s little risk of it falling off. All wiring is routed through the 24 inch flexible gooseneck arm and included switch, but the Reef Lamp Clamp is designed only to run a PAR30 bulb, not so much with the heavier PAR38 lamps. Now that the worry of dangling wires and falling lamps is removed from the nano reef LED spotlight scene, it’s never been easier to add on some accent lighting to your small or medium sized reef tank.
The BoostLED Reef Lamp Clamp is available for $39 standalone, or $105 for the clamp and one BoostLED PAR30 LED spotlight.
