The Aqua Medic Blenny is a scaled up version of the Aqua Medic Yasha which uses the same basic filtration and design and adds more LED power. It’s pretty obvious that the 1300 gph NanoProp 5000 and Turboflotor Blue 500 are overkill for the five gallon Aqua Medic Yasha, so it’s really nice to see AquaMedic reapply the same basic design to the 20 gallon Aqua Medic Blenny.
The one component which is barely cutting it in the Yasha is the meager 9 watts from the generic LED spotlights so the Aqua Medic Blenny steps up the lighting with three 9-watt LED spotlight which hopefully blend better than their junior counterpart. The Aqua Medic Blenny is already crawling its way around European distribution, as evidenced by the video after the break, and only time will tell if we eventually see this more practical version of the Yasha stateside.
As you can see in this video, the AquaMedic Blenny has the potential to be a really attractive aquarium – the filtration and flow are neatly hidden behind a rear panel and the 27 watts of LED spotlights appear to light up the 16 inch cube of usable aquarium space no problem. Hopefully the AquaMedic Blenny will still be an affordable aquarium once it is shipped across the Atlantic to American LFS.
