For those of you who like to digest your information in video form, Red Sea has just launched a five-part video campaign on YouTube sharing information on the Red Sea Reef Care line of products. Hosted on the Red Sea YouTube channel, the five videos introduce you to the system as well as drill down into other components including its Reef Foundation, Coral Coloration, Reef Nutrition and Algae Management programs. Click through to view the other four videos in this series.
Even if you aren’t planning on buying the Red Sea products, these videos are more than just a sales pitch. Red Sea took the approach of providing solid information about water chemistry and nutrient management to be successful in this hobby. The thoughtful approach provides general non-product specific information for more than half of the video giving you solid insight into what’s happening in your aquarium.
We have had the chance to use some of these Red Sea products and while it’s hard to mess up calcium, alkalinity and magnesium additives, we are really impressed with some other products including the NO3:PO4-X. Much different than just plain vodka dosing, the NO3:PO4-X uses a few different carbons that are used by nutrient-reducing bacteria, each selected for a specific strain of microorganism. The videos are also a great chance to see what products are used for, allowing you to make a more informed purchase or even if a specific Red Sea product is right for you.
Although these videos are great for newcomers or novice reefers, they are also a great resource for your mid-level hobbyist to brush up on some information and even teach you a bit more than what you might know. Averaging around six minutes apiece, the videos are definitely worth watching over lunch or during a coffee break.
Just in case you don’t want to jump over to the Red Sea YouTube channel, we’ve tagged the remaining videos below.
