It’s no secret that we are currently enjoying a crush on a veteran aquarium fish, the eight-inch yellow belly blue tang that we first spotted at Marine Designs in Suwanee, Georgia. The personality of this old aquarium fish and the unique coloration was too much to resist and the yellow belly blue tang is now swimming in quarantine with a pair of true percula clownfish.
In pictures by itself, it’s hard to get a sense of how jumbo this yellow belly blue tang is – in the video, the Indian Ocean surgeonfish is in a 29 gallon quarantine tank that is 30 inches long, and the larger of the true percula clownfish is over three inches long. The show size aquarium veteran blue tang will be QTeed for a couple weeks before he gets to enjoy a nice six foot fish aquarium.
I personally only go ga-ga for really dope specimens of corals so a fish is truly something when it makes such a strong impression. The pictures and video hardly do it justice but we’ll keep trying to capture and convey how special this yellow belly blue tang is. At least in the video still above you can see how the black is still very bold yet it is dissolving in the dark blue coloration that surrounds it.
