Genicanthus semicinctus is certainly no stranger to the most enthusiastic of Angelfish fans. Endemic to the Kermadec Islands and Lord Howe region, the half banded is obviously out of reach to anyone who might even dare dream of owning one.
There have only ever been a handful of photos for this exquisite species showcased in the internet and books since its discovery in 1900, and some of the best are featured by Blue Reef Photography, highlighting perfectly the gorgeousness of the half banded striped male and enigmatic female in monochrome. The videos of this spectacular male specimen filmed in its natural habitat shows off its graceful tail filaments and fantastic coloration.
For Angelfish aficionados hoping to obtain this species, continue dreaming as this is one fish we will probably never see appearing in the hobby.
