When is a Clipperton angelfish not a Holacanthus limbaughi? When Steve Robinson tried to import them into the US under the name of “Blue Passer” angelfish Holacanthus sp. Over two years after the veteran aquarium fish collector was caught trying to import the exotic Clipperton Angelfish without proper paperwork, Steve Robinson who plead guilty was sentenced to 45 days in prison and a $2,000 fine. Robinson’s sentencing is a far cry from what Jason Daeninck of Salt Water Connection is facing but with all the legal fees it probably adds up to pretty strong disincentive to break the law, especially when it comes to aquarium marine life.
