The Lifegard Aquatics Intelli-Feed system is designed to not only automate your aquarium feeding but keep your food dry as well. Designed for dry food the Lifegard Intelli-Feed automatic feeder uses a sealed container that extends and rotates, dropping the desired amount of food into the tank, and then returns back to the housing keeping the fish fed and the food dry. We’ve seen this same product before with the Italian Eden 901 feeder, but it is good to see Lifegard take the product and introduce it to the market in North America.
The digitally-controlled Intelli-Feed system is battery operated and programmable for up to four feeding cycles throughout the day. Right out of the box, the system is set to feed twice a day (8 a.m. and 6 p.m.) but it is easy to set with the digital touch pad control. Each feeding cycle can deliver up to three rations of food for a total of 12 feedings per 24-hour period.
The Intelli-Feed comes with a mounting bracket that will fit on most aquarium frames including rimless and Euro-braced aquariums. The Intelli-Feed uses four AA size batteries and also has an optional 6VDC power adapter. The product measures in around 4.53 x 3.07 x 3.66 in. Although you can use flake and other dried foods, Lifegard recommends using a crisp flake or pellet for best results.
The Lifegard Aquatics Intelli-Feed system retails for around $69.99 USD. Sure there are more inexpensive automatic feeders out there, but hobbyists with a plethora of planktivores like anthias, having a system that keeps the food dry will help keep it operating longer with less hassle.
