The RAW conference has just completed in Chicago. For those of you not familiar, the Regional Aquatics Workshop (RAW) is a yearly conference exclusively for large public aquariums and their associates. The conference could be compared to a hobbyist convention on steroids with presentations that go in depth with problems, issues and solutions around public aquaria. The yearly conference is always at a public aquarium, for example this year was at the John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago where hardcore fish and coral nerds discussed topics such as “Analysis of Nutrients in Fresh and High Salinity Water by Ion Chromatography” and “So, Your Dragon Won’t Eat…Preventative and Supportive Care for Common Health Issues in Seadragons”. Next year the RAW conference is scheduled to be at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia.
