The AquaEl ReefMax XL is a new all-in-one (AIO) reef tank from the Polish aquarium product manufacturer. The ReefMax from AquaEl seems to be specifically targeting the high end AIO market which was grown in large part by the Red Sea Max line of aquariums. AquaEl hopes to make its ReefMax aquarium stand out with a built-in flip-up touchscreen aquarium controller, mounted right into the top of the aquarium light and canopy.
In our brief time interfacing with the ReefMax XL’s seven inch touchscreen we experienced smooth navigation between lighting control, including timer functions and manipulating the color and intensity of the built-in RGB accent lights. In some ways the ReefMax XL’s controller feature is more of a touchscreen timer since the only thing it actually controls is temperature, but who knows whether AquaEl has any plans to add increased controllability like simple top off and pH at the most basic. We saw no mention from AquaEl regarding the use of high clarity glass or whether the panes of the aluminum frame stand are removable, two features offered by the Red Sea Max S line.
