From first look the Algae Mower Vac doesn’t really strike you too much but once you see this handy wand in action, it will definitely change your mind. The Algae Mower Vac lets you rip up the algae on your rocks without moving them plus it collects the debris keeping it out of your system. We’ve all had hair algae or other growth on our rocks and have used everything from boiling to scraping with stiff brushes but these methods aren’t too practical and we all know reaquascaping can be a frustrating chore but the Algae Mower Vac is one genius little tool.
A small battery operated water pump is fit with a titanium drill bit that rotates in an circular pattern tearing off the algae with minimal damage to your rock. The wand that holds the tool is extendable to help keep your hands dry and a small foam pad collects the debris from getting back into your system. This unique tool can also be outfitted with a gravel vac tube to allow you to also sweep your sand bed from detritus.
The tool is battery operated with a simple 9V DC battery but also has an AC adapter to allow you to plug it into the wall. The Algae Mower Vac is a must-have for any system that has hair algae but could also tackle aiptasia, other algae or any other sticky detritus (maybe green star polyps?). You can get the Algae Mower Vac from www.algaemower.com for $70 plus $7 shipping and handling or from the show for a special price of $50.
