One of the best and most enriching aspects of traveling around and seeing how people do reef aquariums and fish stores across the country and the world is finding truly inspiring places like Ocean View Aquariums. Barely open for just four months so far, Ocean View Aquariums located in Miami Florida is the kind of LFS that makes my heart sink since it’s so far from home range for crawling our own local aquarium supply stores. With an impressive and thoughtful layout, high clarity custom aquariums built by Reef Savvy and exquisitely presented products that people actually use and buy, Ocean View Aquariums is the kind of store that you don’t just want to support, you’ll also just want to come visit its gallery-esque presentation.
Within minutes of perusing Ocean View Aquariums’ gorgeous show floor we immediately went back to the car for the real photo camera – this kind of excellent LFS had to be documented to educate shoppers of how an awesome store can look and perhaps to inspire other LFS owners of how they can better present their business. As a ten year veteran of the retail marine aquarium scene we were particularly enamored by the neat and tidy fish bagging and water testing station that OVA had set up. Although we were on the road and not really looking to take home any livestock, if we were local we would have inquired about a nice large pair of Allardi clownfish and the super perfect black tang, but we did settle on taking home a very nice little chalice shaped colony of Leptoseris.
