We love special reef tanks, and this is certainly one of them. Despite having an aquascape with a detritus-trapping and flow momentum-destroying rock the effect of having a reef aquarium scene packed with wall to wall corals is still quite impressive. Located in Marinescape Aquarium Ottawa Canada this tank is stocked with some seriously classy, and probably many heritage corals and it is definitely a video you should check out.

Our first thought was that this tank was setup using the infamous, and now historical GARF bulletproof method (you know that system were you had to wait a year for your tank to mature until you could add even hardy SPS), but with the realization that the owners are actually dosing bio-cal we realized that this system is on a whole other level.
For those of you that don’t know, Tropic Marin Bio-Cal was at one point the dosing solution, and was actually the only thing people added to their tank. No two parts, and no testing even, just add some Bio-Cal and it will do the rest. Not exactly the best method, but it worked, sort of anyways. Manufactured by Tropic Marin apparently it is still around, and is still used by awesome systems such as the Marine Scape Aquarium store display.
