Great reefs can be found all over the world, and even though Israel might not be known for it’s reefing scene, the stunning reef of Reuven Tal is located in Israel. It is seldom an aquascape makes us stop in our tracks filled with amazement, but this aquascape is certainly onw of these occasions. Seemingly floating and aesthetically perfectly balanced, we can imagine the aquascape only getting better as the corals grow.
Custom built and rimless, the display measures 67 by 31 by 24 inches (170 by 80 by 60 cm) and rocks a starphire front panel and external overflow. With sump and frag tank the net water volume of the system is thus around 264 gallons (1000 liters). The tank is illuminated by a Giessemann T5 fixture with 12 T5 fluorescent bulbs which replaced a set of two 400 watt metal halides. Filtration is quite basic with a Bubble King Super Marin 250 taking care of all the waste removal and no use of GFO or Carbon.
A single calcium reactor takes care of the calcium demand. Dosing is far from simple however with the addition of 16 additives including: zeobak, zeostart, spongepower, zeofood7, Koral Zucht Xtra, B-Balance, PIF, Iodine, Iron, Stylo-Pocci-glow, ZeoZim, BioMate, CoralSnow, Spur2, FlatwormStop, and K-Balance. Definitely a lot of additives, but it almost seems a norm for Zeovit systems now-a-days, and it doesn’t change the fact that this reef looks amazing.
