The Kore 5th is an interesting name for an interesting new dosing pump system from Pacific Sun LED. The Polish aquarium light maker Pacific Sun LED is better known for making exquisitely crafted lighting designs, using higher grade materials which often price PacSun out of the competitive lighting market, but the Kore 5th is different.
The Pacific Sun LED Kore 5th dosing system has five independently controlled dosing channels which are capable of dosing anywhere from 1/10th of a ml up to a liter and a half. One of the pumps is a dedicated auto-top-off and is controlled by water level sensor. Unlike some introductory dosing systems, the Kore 5th uses high precision computer-controlled DC motors to push its peristaltic pumps, reducing dramatic pH spikes and large additions of any element.
What makes the Kore 5th interesting is that it will be programmable with a wireless controller tat is compatible with Windows, Mac and Android. Anytime that a sophisticated aquarium device can be controlled with a graphical user interface, it reaches a new level of usability and makes it an even better investment.
However, we are somewhat stunned at Pacific Sun’s estimated retail launch price of $430 which for 4 dosing channels and an added ATO feature, is an unheard of value in the dosing pump system. Coupled with bluetooth, a temperature sensor, the Kore 5th is dipping closely to aquarium controller territory. The Kore 5th will be released (in Europe) in February, at which time we look forward to seeing how it lives up to its functions in real life.
