Eshopps LED are coming and the company’s first few fixtures will be a little out of the norm. While you might expect Eshopps to comission some LED fixtures that they might somehow be encase in its signature white or blue acrylic, Lou has decided to take the line in a different, metallic direction.
Eshopps recently displayed two very different LED light models for consideration over aquarium use, one model being a small extruded fixture for use in refugium applications and another, really standout design is all made of steel. The itty bitty refugium light is a 9 watt, 6500K metal fixture very much in the same vein as the Sunbrite’s popular Slimline line of fixtures, but only in miniature. For now the main target of the “mini slimline” is for refugium applications to be paired up with Eshopps refugium products, but there is still a possibility of this light being released in a blue and white flavor for nano reefing action.
The other light in Eshopps testing bench is a stainless steel fixture which is populated by medium output LEDs. Basic blue and white channels are controlled by a remote and allow for several levels of dimming, but no timing functions that we recall. After seeing oodles of plastic and aluminum LED light fixture, we must confess that the stainless steel look of the Eshopps full blown LED light quite stood out, but for this light to become a winner it’ll have to land for the right price, and a little more consideration placed in the selection of their LED colors.
