Giesemann is helping to take the head scratching out of setting up and LED profile on its advanced LED fixtures. Let’s face it, setting up an LED system for your corals can be pretty daunting. All these cutting-edge features, controllable channels, multi-colored diodes and lenses can mean an infinite amount of configurations. Now consider your aquarium, the size, depth and types of corals and you can see where you can wonder where to start.
After speaking with plenty LED owners, especially those switching over to LED for the first time, Giesemann found one common theme – reefers wondering how best to set up their LED lights for their unique aquarium and livestock needs.
Giesemann went to the drawing board and brainstormed several downloadable profiles for the Futura and Futura-s systems to give hobbyists, that need the guidance or who are worries about ‘shocking’ their livestock, an ideal starting point.
Each profile has been carefully designed to replicate both a natural equatorial daylight cycle along with the light characteristics of select regions of the coral reef environment such as a shallow lagoon and several reef profiles based on water depth (5, 10 and 20 meters). There are also two specific lighting programs one to maximize growth and the other to maximize color.
To limit the dangers of over-lighting or shocking stock, each profile comes pre-configured to a maximum peak intensity of no more than 50% on its highest channel, along with notes regarding its use, further adjustment over time, and recommendations regarding the use of additional features such as interlaced cloud cover, and the advanced sun shift features.
All of the profiles will be available to download from the Giesemann website and via the connected support forums. To use the profiles, you must be running the current FUTURA-BT software with Load/Save feature via either PC or MAC. According to the company, additional profiles for the TESZLA-BT package will also be available shortly.
