Giesemann, one of the world’s premier aquatic lighting companies based in Germany, recently announced CoralVue has been named as the North American distributor for Giesemann products. CoralVue has already begun branding the company as Giesemann Aquaristic USA. Update: This agreement does not include Giesemann T5 bulbs, retained by D&D. However, other lines of Giesemann bulbs [e.g. Megachrome HQI range] will be carried by CoralVue).
This is important because many dealers and end users may be confused about how to go about buying a light unit such as the infinity if they feel they need to source the HQI lamps separately, and end users looking to buy replacement lamps, may start contacting the wrong distributor.
This is another significant win for both CoralVue and hobbyists here in North America. For CoralVue, they add another significant name to its growing cache of brands. It was just a year ago that CoralVue made a similar announcement when they took over distribution for Elos. For hobbyists, there is more visibility for Giesemman lighting products beyond traditional lighting bulbs in the North American market.
This arrangement does not include the Giesemann T5 bulbs, as these products are wholly owned and distributed by D&D. This arrangement will include the other Giesemann bulbs like the Megachome HQI range, Giesemann fixtures, furniture and aquariums and potentially other products. CoralVue’s economy of scale to handle all phases of the relationship, from distribution channels to customer support and warranty fulfillment, should create more opportunities for the Giesemann brand and products to get more of a foothold on this side of the pond.
For Giesemann, this is another strong move to create local distribution channels through partnerships. Two years ago, Giesemann signed a similar agreement with Reef Eden to become the distributor in the UK.
