New Era Aquaculture has its roots in public aquarium feeds and as such, their range of cold extruded fish foods have always been aimed at feeding the big showy fish that public aquariums specialize in. With their push into the hobbyist end of the market, New Era Aquaculture has been very successful at meeting the needs of demanding hobbyists and their fish but their pellets only got so small.
At Reefapalooza Orlando New Era Aquaculture showed off the first samples of their new small pellet size fish food. Where the previous small bottomed out around 1.5mm the new pellets are closer to 1mm in diameter, the lower size limit for the unique process that New Era Aquaculture uses to make their nutrition dense feeds.
The new 1mm pellet size is much more in line with the sizes of small fish mouths and can be crumbled into an even finer granular size. The current 1.5mm pellets of New Era Aquaculture foods has been a great staple for the medium and large reef and marine fish that marine aquarists like to keep but now the anthias, bitty wrasses, tiny gobies and small blennies that are particularly well represented in reef tanks will also get a taste of the nice and soft pellets from New Era Aquaculture.
The samples of the 1mm pellet food previewed at Reefapalooza should be followed up with a more formal announcement of availability at InterZoo later next month.
