Giesemann debuted a new, exclusive line of Powerchrome T5 lamps at InterZoo. Although T5 technology has been relegated to the backseat of the aquarium illumination conversation due to the influx of LED lights, cost and performance are key factors for hobbyists choosing this mode of lighting.
Not to be confused with the D-D Giesemann Powerchrome T5’s, this line is exclusively being sold from Giesemann, The new line has been given the Johnny Cash treatment with black packaging and this new Powerchrome T5 series incorporates new advances in Tri and Penta-phosphor blending to improve high output performance, increase the life span of the bulbs, have better coloration and greater spectral stability, and most importantly have been specifically developed for use with all dimmable units.
There are seven colors to chose from including a select series for reef aquariums. The new Powerchrome bulbs boast a higher PAR than previous versions. This should give you enhanced color and growth of corals in addition to just looking good.
These new generation of Giesemann Powerchrome T5 lamps are available in all four common sizes — 24, 36, 48 and 60 in. Giesemann expects these lamps to begin shipping by July. From our understanding this line is in no way related to the previous version of the Powerchrome lamps being carried by the D-D brand.
