The GigaFlow is a new line of high volume water pumps from Rio with a trick up its sleeve, or rather within the body. These days DC pumps are getting lots of traction in the aquarium world with their increases in efficiency. To that end Rio has created the GigaFlow not with a power supply but with a built-in AC/DC inverter chip to essentially create the best of both worlds; a simple plug in pump and no power brick, but with the benefits of DC power.
The Rio GigaFlow will be available in flowrates from 2,500 to 16,000 gallons per hour and high head pressure profile to address some of the more physically demanding pumping jobs. Pricing and availability is yet to be determined.
