RLSS Waveline was the first company to get our attention with a powerful, controllable DC powered protein skimmer, then they did it again by being the first to deliver a novel open volute design, both of which were heavily copied and are practically ubiquitous in the DC protein skimmer space these days. Now Waveline is making waves with yet another new concept in the form of a side-mounted open volute design that also breaks from the pack of external, recirculating protein skimmers.
The Side-mounted open volute RLSS skimmer greatly reduces the footprint of a skimmer with an externally mounted pump yet keeps the pump body accessible for maintenance, and allows for an open volute style design for an external skimmer. We’re seeing great potential for a powerful DC protein skimmers in Waveline’s new concept and if history is any indication, this time next year a whole new crop of similar skimmers are likely to start showing up as well.
