Among many things, the Tunze Care Magnet is a reminder that Tunze still has the talent to create new and interesting solutions to problems we didn’t even know we had. We’ve got plenty of magnetic algae scrapers on the market with blades for removing tough algaes but Tunze’s Care Magnet is the first to double up on the scraper blades to completely elevate the magnet off of the glass, making it virtually impossible to catch particles of sand which can scratch aquarium glass and acrylic.
Furthermore, the double ended blades provide for more pressure right where the scraping action is needed, and it also means that there are two different blade widths for navigating tight spaces between the glass and the reef aquascape. The short blade has more pressure for removing tough growth, the wider blade makes short work of cleaning a large area of algae growth from the glass and both blades have rounded ends as to not cause any damage while cleaning up the corners of the aquarium glass.
The Tunze Care Magnet will come in three sizes and for the medium and long models there is an available steel scraper blade that can turn this handy aquarium accessory into a powerhouse remover of coralline algae and other tough encrustations. The other neat trick that the Tunze Care Magnet can do is function as a hand-held scraper when you really need to apply some elbow grease to remove the really tenacious growths from the glass.
The Tunze Care Magnet will be available in a Nano version for glass up to 1/4 inch (6.3mm), a Care Magnet Long for glass up to 3/8 inch (10mm) and a Care Magnet Strong for glass up to 1/2 inch (15mm).
