What really made the Fluval Sea Flores Expedition special is that it was organized For Aquarists, By Aquarists (FABA). One of our distinguished reefers on this FABA trip was Manhattan Aquariums and Unique Corals founder/owner Joe Caparatta who has been keeping aquariums of all types since the 80s.
With his latest enterprise, Unique Corals, Joe has been in the deep end of the reef when it comes to acquiring, growing and selling an incredible catalog of corals. Along with this direction towards more critical coral handling Joe has been a frequent visitor to coral exporting facilities in Jakarta, Bali and Australia in order to understand how the business works at the source.
The natural progression of Joe’s passion for aquarium corals was joining the Fluval Sea Flores Expedition to help us in exploring novel reefs, observing unique corals in their habitat and trying to create a first hand account of how coral reef ecosystems actually work.
