Sea & Reef are at MACNA this year and they’ve got some really cool clowns on display. The captive bred lightning maroons are the first batch of offspring to come from a lightning maroon x PNG white striped maroon pair. The male of the brood stock came from one of Matthew Pedersen’s many successful lightning clown offspring, while the PNG white striped mom was a wild caught fish. Here’s a classic example on how something rare and valuable can be made more available to the public via captive breeding.
If you’re thinking of heading down to MACNA, or are already here, do be sure to check out Sea & Reef Aquaculture‘s booth for a glimpse of these white-laced beauties. If you’re thinking of bringing one home, you’re in luck! While the ones on display aren’t for sale, Sea & Reefs are releasing more of their captive bred lightning maroons starting this weekend. They are available for order this coming Saturday and should hit the stores by Tuesday. The anticipated retail price should go for around $400-600.
