Last year the World Pet Association set about to create a brand new, all-aquarium event that incorporated nearly all facets of the aquarium hobby and aquatic industry. As a first year show we didn’t know what to expect from a diverse mix of reefers, cichlid people, pleco fans, freshwater aquascapers and even pond keepers.
What we experienced last year was such a blast we can’t wait to attend and present at the Aquatic Experience again this weekend in Chicago. The eclectic mix of aquarists from such diverse reaches of the aquatics world led to some exceptional conversation, lots of very cool stories and a rarified form of cross pollinating of information that expanded everyone’s view of the aquarium world.
This weekend in Schaumburg near Chicago, the WPA will be hosting the second iteration of the very successful Aquatic Experience 2013 which is estimated to have attracted somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000 attendees! No matter where your interest in aquariums lie, or what level of the aquatics industry you work in, the Aquatic Experience is a very unique type of aquarium event which is truly not to be missed.
Along with the typical exhibits by aquarium companies and coral sellers, there’s companies there to offer rare aquarium books, handmade pleco caves, live plants and much much more. There’s an aquascaping demonstration by the one and only Oliver Knott, an aquascaping contest and speakers by the industry’s best and brightest including Julian Sprung, Kevin Kohen, Bob Fenner, Oliver Lucanus and myself (Jake Adams)
The Aquatic Experience will unfold over the next three days from Friday the 7th of November to Sunday the 9th. Ticket prices start at $10 per day for entry to the exhibit space and up from there for attending speaker talks and the saturday night banquet. The WPA really knocked it out of the park on their first try last year so we can’t wait to see what they have in store for this weekend. For full event details visit the Aquatic Experience website.
