It’s really crazy to think that when ReefStock first took place in 2008, there never was a long term plan to make it an annual tradition. But here we are seven years later and seven shows under our belts that ReefStock has grown to be the best regional reef aquarium event in the country. Rather than try to make the show as huge as possible, year after year we’ve focused on bringing quality speakers, respected manufacturers and the most passionate coral vendors in the country.
With MACNA a scant six month behind us we really thought that this year’s ReefStock might be lost in the long shadow of the national show. But as you can see from the long list of prestigious sponsors and exhibitors slated for the annual reef show in Colorado, we’ve attracted the best of the best to come and represent in the Mile High City once again.
We’ve always secretly wished for ReefStock to become the CES of the reefing world where lots of new products are shown off, announced and displayed for the first time. ReefStock’s track record for new product announcements is incredibly long but this year promises to be particularly bountiful and we can’t wait to see a huge diversity of new products that even we will have a hard time covering in a single weekend.
We are also always reaching for great aquarium voices that may not have yet received national notoriety and for this year’s speakers we will have a few great examples of this. Unique Corals founder Joe Caparatta will be giving two talks, one on Saturday about the Fluval Sea Flores Expedition and one on Sunday with an introduction to the principles of the Triton method of managing aquarium water chemistry. Saturday will also feature presentations by Reef Builders Japan editor Taka Kamata on the Japanese marine aquarium scene, and James Fatheree who has loads of new stuff to talk about regarding giant clams in the aquarium.
Last year we actually took some measures to throttle ReefStock’s attendance since we’d more than outgrown our venue at the Denver Downtown Aquarium but with a new location right inside the Radisson Hotel, we’re expecting our biggest turnout ever. Attendees will be rewarded with a field of the best coral frags for sale, face time with the country’s best aquarium companies, and the kind of mega raffle that even MACNA would be proud of.
Attendees to this year’s ReefStock on February 21 & 22 will be treated to a great reef show with a few great surprises that we can’t talk about yet, but either way, you won’t want to miss it. Full event details about ReefStock can be seen on this page and be sure to RSVP on our Facebook event page to keep track of all the announcements leading up to our favorite regional reef aquarium event.
