Corals are such adaptive creatures, they are amenable to being positioned and grown into all kinds of shapes and positions. Tyler Bell’s Zoanthid Tree is an impressive collection of many popular strains of Zoanthus and Palythoa species arranged into an unforgettable bouquet of polyps.
Like the Norrom Aquarium we just shared we you, we are drawn by all aspects of reefkeeping that employ creative use of design, whether it’s a device, an entire aquarium, or a flower arrangement of colorful corals. Tyler’s Zoanthid Tree is a display unto itself but appears to reside within a larger aquarium making it a really noticeable talking point.
In its current incarnation that Zoanthid tree has a long way to go before it it is as breathtaking as Filipe Oliveira’s freshwater moss tree, as a standalone display anyway, but it’s definitely in line with John Ciotti’s upside down reef tank. Further refinement of Tyler’s Zoanthid Tree concept could actually develop into something even more stunning if implemented on a larger scale and positioned and illuminated “just-so” in the right aquarium.
Can you imagine, a larger tree branch made from resin in a large and open aquarium, with different zoanthid polyps actually growing over and encrusting branches and turning them into different colors with small nano gobies or glass cardinalfish swimming through them? Man that would be quite a sight,so which one you will be the first to present Zoanthid Tree 2.0? [CoralFish12G]
