AquaReef is one of the only aquarium light manufacturers from Turkey and have a pair of LED lights they have recently launched. When we last wrote about AquaReef, they were focused on T5 and T5/LED hybrid lights, but are now venturing into full digital lighting. The new fixtures are loaded with SemiLED and CREE LEDs and built-in WiFi receivers. There are two models designed with a full spectrum blend of colors for the reef aquarium.
The AquaReef X Series comes in three sizes and features passively cooled 1/2W LEDs including 8300K Cool White, 5000K Daylight White , 455nm and 440nm Blue, 410nm and 420nm UV, 640nm Red and 660nm Deep Red diodes. For the 166 LED X2 light, there are five channels of control with the ability to program custom light programs and even add weather effects.
If you need more power, the AquaReef Pro Series pushes out 190W in its 500mm length (around 19 in.) thanks to quite an array of CREE and SemiLED diodes. Stacked in modular LED clusters, the 56 LEDs include 12 CREE XP-G2 8300K Cool White LEDs (S2 Series), 12 CREE XT-E 455nm Royal Blue, 8 CREE XT-E 5000K Daylight White, 8 CREE XP-E 470nm Blue, 4 CREE XP-E 530nm Green, 4 SemiLED 660nm Deep Red, 4 SemiLED 420nm UV Indigo, and 4 pcs SemiLED 410nm UV, giving you power and performance to dial in a significant range of lighting profiles.
Of course with more LEDs comes more control with seven-channel control of color and intensity. The Pro Series comes stock with 120-degree optic lenses (just like the X Series) but have the option to add 80-degree 28-in-1 total internal reflection (TIR) lens to give you more focused output.
Both the AquaReef X and Pro Series connects via WiFi to the onboard AquaLink modem and are controllable via Windows PC or iOS and Android mobile apps. Each come with multiple hanging options and telescoping arms to straddle your tank.
We aren’t certain the availability outside of EMEA for this right now, but the MSRP for these are $500 for the Pro Series and $170 for the X1 (300mm long, 35W 83 LED), $280 for the X2 (500mm long, 70W 166 LED) and $365 for the X3 (900mm long, 140W 332 LED).
