The Gyre XF180 is the newest and largest new model to be officially revealed by MaxSpect, and it will be formally displayed at MACNA 2015 in Washington D.C. next weekend. The FX180 marks the third new model of powerful Gyre pumps from MaxSpect that really shook up the propeller pump and reef aquarium flow pump market last year.
Slated for a launch in November at the earliest, the MaxSpect Gyre FX180 is still a hobbyist-level water mover and it is not the same as the gigantic models of commercial Gyre XL pumps we spied at Aquarama earlier this year. Pricing and actual flowrate for the Gyre FX180 have not yet been determined, but we have learned that the XF180 can easily push water clear across an eight foot aquarium, a feat which will be demonstrated in the MaxSpect MACNA booth in Washington next week.
Dimensionally, the Gyre FX180 is a little bit thicker than the XF150 and XF130, and a couple inches longer too. Despite this increase in size, the low profile of the Gyre pumps will enable even the new larger Gyre FX180 to move a ton of water in even larger tanks while not being too obtrusive.
Details on MaxSpect’s new larger Gyre generating pumps are still pretty scant, but we are really looking forward to seeing it in person and filling in the gaps about what we know when we visit the MaxSpect MACNA booth in Washington D.C.
