While filter socks may not be the most glamorous piece of equipment in the reefing world, they are workhorses and serve a valuable purpose. Skimz is taking the lowly sock to the next level with the Skimz EL (Extended Life) filter sock built designed to provide long service life while capturing plenty of junk you don’t want in your system.
The Skimz EL filter sock can hold up to twice the amount of dirt as a traditional felt bag to reducing bag changes. The porous material allows water to pass through freely, but traps particles and blocks large objects from entering the sump tank. In fact, the Skimz EL filter sock is rated at 300 micron.
Skimz EL filter sock is made of washable nylon which is easy to clean and reusable and comes in two sizes. The S300 is the shorter of the two coming in at 240mm in length (approx. 4 x 9.45 in.) and the M300 is the larger one coming in at 355mm in length (4 x 14 in.)
