The CalcFeeder Pro is a brand new design in calcium reactor technology that should make it much easier and reliable to dissolve calcium carbonate aragonite media. The CalcFeeder Pro takes the basic concept of the DaStaCo calcium reactor and improves everything about it in terms of design, reliability and especially cost.
First of all, instead of a mechanical floatswitch which can stick, the CalCFeeder Pro uses an optical sensor to more accurately determine when the gas chamber has dissolved all of its carbon dioxide. This switch feeds into a touch screen controller with a built-in peristaltic pump which itself has a strong and accurate stepper motor to supply the CalcFeeder pro.
Instead of a puny Eheim 1060 the CalcFeeder Pro uses a beefy new powerful Aquabee pump, and will be available with a controllable option to dial in the optimal flowrate for your type of media. The calcium reactor chamber is more squat and less tall, making it actually possible to use a calcium reactor like this under your aquarium stand.
Best of all, Pacific Sun has made the CalcFeeder Pro with consumers in mind so their pH-probe less calcium reactor design will be available in three sizes. The medium sized CalcFeeder Pro is able to supply a reef tank of 1000 liters, or about 250 gallons, with everything but the pressurized CO2 tank, but including a solenoid valve, for somewhere in the neighborhood of 900€ or right at $1000.
