We just recently found out that Piscine Energetics had developed their own process for making pellet food with fresh mysis shrimp and now we learn they’re working on doing the same thing in a flake food. PE Flake, as the name implies, is a new flake food from Piscine Energetics which will employ the same philosophy as their PE Pellets.
PE Flake will have fresh mysis as the primary ingredient and it will be made with the same low temperature and slow batch process that Piscine Energetics likens to craft beer brewing. There is no doubt that pelleted fish food is the most nutritionally dense food we can offer our fish, but some fish respond more favorably to flake food, and sometimes we need a food that doesn’t sink nearly as fast as pellet foods.
With Piscine Energetics soon to be offering their world-famous Canadian mysis shrimp in frozen, pellet and now flake foods, hobbyists will have more choice than ever before in how they introduce Mysis to their aquarium diets. Look out for PE Mysis Flake food to be released in 2017.
